$1,000 Double Knockout Survivor

Public Pool Created By MyOfficePool.ca
Commish Message
Jan 8: Morton wins! All three picked the Kansas City Chiefs to try to advance another week, but as we know the heavily favoured and half-time leading Chiefs blew it throwing away an 18 point lead to lose to the Tennessee Titans. That meant 3 x's across the board but Morton with his perfect regular season left him the last entry standing. Congrats Morton!

Jan 1: When I see different picks from our remaining entries then it seems almost certain we are going to have a casualty, especially in unpredictable Week 17. But you guys just keep on rolling with the correct picks. Falcons, 49ers and Steelers - funny how the 49ers was the safest pick of the day, Steelers the least. A win is a win though and this one is carrying over to the playoffs!
- - -
Dec 28: Three different picks in Week 16 and all three correct. Some relatively close calls but essentially if you avoided the favoured Jaguars and Lions, you were in good shape. On to Week 17. This pool will extend into the playoffs if necessary, and you can use a team in the playoffs that was picked previously, but again each team can only be used once during the playoffs. Lets get through unpredictable Week 17 first!
- - -
Dec 18: I think Morton is thinking, "I just cannot get rid of these guys." He takes the Ravens and remains perfect, while cinvasion and cneilson both had the Vikings. Easy wins all around, on to Week 16!
- - -
Dec 12: Everyone avoided the New England upset last night because everyone already picked them earlier. We did lose evan0202 and cneilson took his first strike on the Cincy Bengals looking pathetic against the Chicago Bears. Surely Marvin Lewis gets fired this year, right? Morton stays perfect taking the Bills in a blizzard that was hilarious to watch and needed OT, plus cinvasion took the Chargers for the win. Three left, Morton in the driver's seat.
- - -
Dec 6: Pretty ho-hum week, although any Chargers faithful worried they were cutting it a bit too close for the bulk of that game versus the Browns? Everyone is right, everyone advances, and on to Week 14.
- - -
Nov 27: Ho hum, 4 alive going in, all go their picks right, and 4 alive coming out. Buffalo Bills were the biggest upset of the day and everyone avoided it. evan0202 was hoping for more upsets Sunday as he was sitting pretty since last Thursday picking the Redskins.
- - -
Nov 21: Given how big the upset was, you guys did pretty well. We only had one strike from our four competitors caused by the Chiefs blunder and it is only cinvasion's first, so everyone is still alive heading into Week 12. Four different picks for the week too, which is pretty cool. Now only cneilson and Morton are still perfect giving them an edge over cinvasion and evan0202.
- - -
Nov 14: All four alive entries on the same team, the Lions, doesn't make for a very exciting week in this pool but maybe you guys will mix it up for us Week 11? Can evan0202 overcome his disadvantage already holding one strike?
- - -
Nov 7: We lost two entries and are down to four left. The Seahawks royally screwed up against the Redskins, and that earned CaptainA and thewilder their second strike, leaving just cinvasion, cneilson, evan0202 #4 and Morton alive. Still three perfect entries of the four, so evan0202 needs to be extra cautious to win this one. Good luck gentlemen!

Oct 31: Guys, please make sure you have your pick reminders turned on for your member account. When logged in, click your name in the upper-right and go to Edit Profile. There is an option for the member mailing list and pick reminders (two separate check boxes). Unfortunately we lost Kire12 with a missed pick since he already used his default pick back in Week 1. In an otherwise pretty ho-hum week we have 6 alive, and 3 of those remain perfect.
- - -
Oct 24: Five different teams picked among our seven alive entries in this one and every pick was correct. That must be the first time this season that has happened. Of course only the Cowboys and Steelers breezed to their wins while the others all made it more difficult than it needed to be. A win is a win as they say. There are no style points. On to Week 8!
- - -
Oct 16: I am impressed we still have 3 perfect entries in this one. We did lose 6 earning their second strike thanks to the Falcons and Broncos for failing to finish off the Dolphins or just plain failing to show up versus the Giants. There are 7 alive from the original 30 with a chance to win the $1,000. Good luck!
- - -
Oct 10: You know it figures the first week I decide to put some faith in the Buffalo Bills they go and drop a game against the lowly Bengals. Although no one else picked them so I suppose I went too off the board there and should have known better. But how about those Steelers? Yikes, that was ugly. We lost six entries completely on their second strike, and five more received their first strike. It was a tough week. Steelers and Giants accounted for most of the strikes while Eagles were the safest pick as they crushed the Cardinals. Less than half of our original 30, only 14, remain alive heading into Week 6. Reminder: $1,500 Classic II Survivor starts this week.
- - -
Oct 3: We lost 6 entries on the latest version of Black Sunday as far as football survivor pools are concerned, bringing our losses to an even 10 and therefore only 20 still alive in this pool. With a double knockout I would have thought we could go the distance through the regular season but it is looking less likely unless the NFL gets a tad more predictable. Nine alive entries are still perfect while eleven have their first strike. Week 5 looks like a bit of a bear, so we will see who can make it to the other side. If you are looking for a shot at redemption I opened a new single knockout, $20 entry pool, the $1,500 Classic II Survivor.

Sept 26: Well that could have been a lot worse than it was! Nine strikes between the Broncos, Dolphins, Steelers and Panthers, but how close were we to losing all the picks on the Packers and Patriots? That was every other pick except a couple Cowboys, a Rams and Eagles. All in all we lost three entries with their second strike, bringing us down to 26 alive. Eleven of those alive entries have one strike.
- - -
Sept 19: Not too many wrong picks this week but we did have one double knockout casualty already. evan0202 #3 (who has likely won more money than anyone in MOP history, so we aren't throwing stones here) went back-to-back Thursday night losers to get his entry booted from the pool. There were some big spreads Week 2 and while some were closer than expected (Seahawks, Panthers), the favourites pulled through for the win. Good for this week, but an ominous sign for the weeks to come!
- - -
Sept 12: Aren't you glad you joined the double knockout pool? It was a rough Week 1 with some heavy favourites getting their ass handed to them (Patriots, Texans), but it matters not here because everyone is still alive. There are 8 entries of only 30 with their first strike though, so they have to be extra cautious picking for Week 2. Two strikes and you are out.

This one works the same as our Classic I pool, except it is a DOUBLE KNOCKOUT survivor. You get two strikes, or think of it as one mulligan, to survive as long as you can.

Also, it is a smaller and therefore much better odds pool. This one is limited to only 30 entries competing for the prize of $1,000.

I'm not sure "high rollers" is an appropriate name, but it is $40 Canadian per entry (plus $5 HST). Purchase multiple entries. Deadline to enter is Sunday at 1:00pm Eastern of NFL Week 1.

Join now and edit your pick any time up to the deadline. Pay when you join the pool or send an Interac email money transfer to mike@myofficepool.ca. The first 30 paid entries are in, no exceptions. Good luck!
