MOP Free Entry NHL Triple Knockout Survivor

Public Pool Created By MyOfficePool.ca
Commish Message
Okay, lets get the new 2018-19 NHL season underway!

Pick one team a week from the Saturday NHL schedule to win. If they win, then you get a check mark. If they lose, then you get a strike.

Since this is hockey and predicting hockey is borderline crazy, triple knockout is in effect! That is right, you are only body checked out of the pool after your third strike.

You can't pick the same team twice. The weekly pick deadline is 7:00pm Eastern on Saturdays but earlier games must be picked before opening puck drop.

This is our free entry public hockey survivor pool. Since this is a for fun pool, members can enter after the season starts (even if odd for survivor). Enjoy!

It is possible I jinxed them last week. We lost all four of One Fish, scotty, sparky and szuram in a brutal night for predicting hockey outcomes. I am going to declare them the winners of this pool, since BenjaminBelcour and Sievers were late to the party, and we'll take a break then open up a new NHL survivor pool in the New Year.

Saturday Survivor Hockey!

  • Pick one team to WIN its game (including OT and shootout)
    • If they win, advance to the next week
    • If they lose, take a strike
  • Once you have three strikes , you are out of the pool
  • You CANNOT pick the same team more than once
  • Last entry to survive is the winner!

Rules Summary

Starting the first week of your pool, you have to pick one team that will win its game straight up (no point spreads) including overtime and shootout results.

If the team you picked loses, then you receive a strike. Once you collect three strikes, then you are eliminated from the pool.

You cannot pick the same team twice during the length of this pool.

Picks are submitted once a week. Only games played on Saturdays are included in the pool.

The last person in the pool still alive after all others have been eliminated, the survivor, is the winner.

The pool will continue as long as there are entries still alive or until the pool's final week, whichever comes first.

Important Points

Weekly Pick Deadline

The final pick deadlines for each week of the 2018 season, all times Eastern, are as follows:

Sat Oct 6 Sat Oct 6, 2018 7:00 pm
Sat Oct 13 Sat Oct 13, 2018 7:00 pm
Sat Oct 20 Sat Oct 20, 2018 7:00 pm
Sat Oct 27 Sat Oct 27, 2018 7:00 pm
Sat Nov 3 Sat Nov 3, 2018 7:00 pm
Sat Nov 10 Sat Nov 10, 2018 7:00 pm
Sat Nov 17 Sat Nov 17, 2018 7:00 pm
Sat Nov 24 Sat Nov 24, 2018 7:00 pm
Sat Dec 1 Sat Dec 1, 2018 7:00 pm
Sat Dec 8 Sat Dec 8, 2018 7:00 pm

In weeks with games scheduled earlier than the above deadlines, these games can be selected but picks must be submitted before puck drop of that game. This deadline applies to all remaining games for the week.

These deadlines will be strictly enforced! There will be no exceptions for picks not being submitted on time.

Default Pick

If no pick is submitted prior to the deadline, then a default pick will be assigned a maximum of once per entry for the length of the pool. If an entry already used a default pick in a previous week, then no pick is assigned and the entry takes a wrong pick for that week.

The default pick will be the team listed first alphabetically based on city then team name, not already used previously, amongst all teams playing on or after the deadline.

Alternate Pick Submission

If you are having difficulty submitting your pick online, then send the pick by email to mike@myofficepool.ca. Make sure to clearly state the name of the pool, your username, entry number, week of the pool and pick. The email must be received time stamped prior to the deadline and from the email account associated with your username.

We take no responsibility for email being delayed past the deadline or not being delivered. Everyone should use the online system to make their picks and only send an email in the case of an emergency.

Multiple Winners

If more than one entry is still alive at the end of the pool, then those alive entries are all considered equal winning entries.

Mass Knockout Rule

If more than five entries are all eliminated in the same week and these eliminations would result in the conclusion of the pool, because there are no more alive entries, then these entries will be considered still alive and play on if there are available weeks remaining in the pool.

If five or fewer entries are all eliminated in the same week and these eliminations result in the conclusion of the pool, then those entries are all considered equal winning entries.
